Aaron Doyle who won this week’s stroke competition with a nett 67.

Maiden win for Aaron to win monthly medal.

 Saturday’s monthly medal stroke competition at Silverwood Golf Club was won by the young Aaron Doyle with an impressive Nett 67 (-5) score playing off a 11 handicap. Aaron returned an impressive 78 gross (+6) which included 11 pars, 5 single bogeys, a double bogey and a final closing birdie, helping him to victory. Aaron will be rewarded for his efforts with a new 10 handicap. In second place with a Nett 68 was 23 handicapper John Mc Conville. John reached the turn in a couple under his handicap with good pars at the 9th and 10th holes. An unfortunate double bogey 7 on the final hole pushed John out of top spot. Nonetheless a steady round of golf for John. Coming third, returning a Nett 69 score was Damian McCready (17). Damian has been a regular in the prizes of late and a welcome return once again. Damian completed both his nines in +7 for a gross 86 and will now see himself with a new 16 handicap. Gross prize this week was won by 2 handicapper Ethan Headley with a level par effort, 72 gross. Ethan had a very tidy card with a dropped shot on the 3rd followed by a birdie on the 8 th hole. Two bogeys, two birdies (13th, 18th) and five pars on his inward nine was a solid return for Ethan. In fourth place also with a solid score of Nett 69 was Martin Craig (8) with a valiant effort of gross 77, +5. Martin was well underway through nine holes recording 2 bogeys, 1 birdie and 6 pars. 4 single bogeys and 5 pars completed his inward nine. In 5th spot was Derek Church (20). Derek reached the turn in 4 shots less than his handicap and with a steady inward nine Derek claimed 5th place. Section winners: Low-Patrick McKeown (Nett 70), Middle- Justin Dummigan (Nett 73) & High: Aaron Litter (Nett 73). Henry Noble claimed the Senior’s prize with a Nett 74.
