Gerry Wins Mary Peter’s Qualifier

Gerry Wins Mary Peters qualifier 

It was the Mary Peters qualifier at Silverwood golf club last weekend, and with a strong breeze to content with, the scores were reasonably low, that and the fact that it was the week before captain’s day. 

And once again the course was in great condition for the member’s. 

The player who came out on top was Gerry Harbinson with 41 pts, he had a front nine score of 21 points with one birdie at the 8th hole, three pars at the 4th 6th and 9th holes, two double bogeys at the 1st and 5th holes, and three single bogeys. His back nine of 20 points had one birdie at the 18th hole, three pars at the 11th13th and 14th holes, two no-scores at the 10th and 15th holes and three single bogeys, to win by one point. 

In 2nd place with 40 points was Sean Polin he had 20 points on his front nine holes, with two birdies at the 1st and 9th holes, one par at the 4th hole, along with four single bogeys, one double bogey and one no-score, his back nine contained three pars at the 13th 14th and 17th holes, five single bogeys, and one triple bogey at the 11th hole. 

In 3rd place with another 20 points was Thomas Marley, he had two birdies on his card at the 12th and 14th holes, three pars at the 3rd 4th and 9th holes, along with a mixture of single and double bogeys. 

The gross prize was won again by Fintan Mc Areavey with a gross 71, he had a front nine of 34 with three birdies at the 1st 4th and 5th holes, with one double bogey at the 3rd hole, and five pars, his back nine of 37 included another two birdies at the 11th and 18th holes, two single bogeys at the 13th and 15th holes, and five pars. 

4th place went to Joe McAvoy with 39 points, he had a front nine off 18 points, and a back nine off 21 points, with his highlight a birdie four at the 18th hole. 

5th place went to Leonard Mc Cann with 39 points, he had a front nine of 19 pts with one birdie at the 8th hole, and a back nine of 20 points with two birdies at the 12th and 18th holes. 

The senior prize was won by William Millar with 37 pts. 

The junior prize was won by Jack Doyle with 36 pts.
