Stephen wins the last major of the year

It was the last major of the year at Silverwood golf club and it was a two-day competition the Silverwood Cup, and with the course very heavy with a lot of rain it was a very tough test over the two days for the members.

The winner with a superb score of 85 pts was Stephen Morgan he had a great 1st day with 42 pts with only three bogeys on his card, two birdies, and thirteen pars, but went one better on the 2nd day with 43 pts that contained three birdies, one double bogey, and fourteen pars, to win by seven shots.

In 2nd place was Jim Doran with 78 pts, he had 41 pts on his first day with one birdie, thirteen pars, two bogeys, and one double, and one triple bogey, his 2nd day score of 37 pts included one birdie, eight pars, one double bogey, and eight single bogeys.

3rd place went to Tony Beeton who had a total of 76 pts, 39 pts on day one and 37 pts on day 2, he had a total of 4 four birdies, 22 pars, and 10 bogeys on his two cards.

The first gross prize went to Fintan Mc Areavey with 75 gross pts, he had a great round of 68 gross on day one, with six birdies, 10 pars, and 2 bogeys, and a gross 73 on day 2 with two birdies, 14 pars, one single bogey, and one triple bogey.

4th place went to Finbar Headley with 75 pts, he had 35 pts on day 1 and 40 pts on day 2.

The second gross prize went to Michael Molloy with 70 gross pts, he had 29 gross pts on day and an excellent 41 pts on day 2 with a gross 67 the lowest score of the weekend.

5th place went to David Carville with 75 pts, 36 pts on day 1 and 39 pts on day 2.

The senior prize went to Gerry Donnelly with 68 pts

Best junior was Aaron Doyle with 79 pts

1st on Day 1 was Peter Mc Cabe with 40 pts

1st on Day 2 was Colm Doyle with 41 pts

2nd Day 1 Shane Mulholland 40 pts

2nd Day 2 Matthew Madden 39 pts

Junior Day 1 Nathan Thomson 39 pts

Junior Day 2 Callum Starkey     39 pts

Best Front nine Sam Frazer                     23 pts
